Our mission is to provide comprehensive clinical care and diagnostic genetic services to those referred for the evaluation of genetic disorders. We also strive to effectively teach medical genetics to students and residents at all levels of their training, and to conduct excellent clinical and molecular-based genetics research.
Newborn Screenings
Screening Metabolic & Genetic Condition
Inborn Error of Metabolism
Florida screens every newborn for more than 35 inherited metabolic and/or genetic conditions. The Pediatric Division of Genetics & Metabolism serves as the regional center for referral of newborns.
Our Programs
Cytogenetics Lab
The Cytogenetics Lab offers chromosome testing that includes prenatal, postnatal, and cancer diagnostic studies.
Genetic Counseling
Our Genetic Counselors work to determine relevant family history and provide clarification about recurrence risks, the disease process and address other parental concerns.
Metabolic Nutrition Services
Our Metabolic Nutrition Services include newborn screening, metabolic nutrition, and PKU programs.
